El camino menos pedaleado

Conversations with Path Less Pedaled

ESP – ENG

Over the years, certain individuals, projects, and stories have added brushstrokes to what we now call MV, even before the project existed under this name. This is certainly the case with the story we’re sharing today.

In the years leading up to Montañas Vacías, Russ Roca and Laura Crawford epitomised a different kind of cycling, a philosophy of life that rescued me from the hurried pace of the cycling world.

Some of their articles sowed the conceptual seed within me to understand the bicycle as a tool for change in the demographic challenges of a territory. Their articles from that era, or concise videos like this one, planted several seeds of what this project has become over the years.

And, of course, their watercolours were the starting point for me to realise that drawing could be a perfect transmitter of emotions for what I intended. Russ was one of the reasons why brushes and watercolours became permanent equipment in my travel kit.

Over these past few years, I’ve had the tremendous fortune to meet in person, and in the place where I live, many of those who, in their day, contributed their grain of inspiration to create my project. But the truth is, one never stops getting moved every time I have the honour of welcoming one of them to Teruel.

Below, you’ll find an interview Russ and Laura did with me, an excerpt from a long and fascinating conversation about all the numerous topics we have in common. I hope you enjoy it.
