I’m currently planning our trip and starting to lose hope that the Valencia–Teruel train line will reopen before the end of June. As a plan B, I’ve been looking into private bus companies.

Maybe I’m just missing something obvious, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to add our bikes to the online booking. Has anyone done this before? A private taxi transfer would unfortunately blow our budget, so we’re really hoping to make the bus work. Thanks so much for any tips!

As far as I know, in Samar or Jimenez you don’t need to book for the bike boxes, as they go in the boot of the bus and there is plenty of space…
You’re right, I think this year we won’t see the reopening of the train line…
      Hugs from Teruel!!

      Hey there,

we were also planning to take the bus from Valencia to Teruel with the bikes (2 bikes). We were thinking, it would be quite convenient for us to build the bikes in Valencia and leave the travel bags somewhere there in a bike shop or storage. Then, we would simply disassemble the bikes without box on the bus.

Do you think they would let us board the bus without the travel bags?

Also, do you happen to to know a good place, where we could keep the bags in Valencia? Maybe a shop we could contact?

      Many thanks in advance,

      Nicolas

      «Good afternoon.

In principle, only a maximum of two bicycles can be transported, as luggage takes priority over bicycles. However, if it’s not very busy, three bicycles may be allowed. Busiest times are weekends and the days before public holidays.
If bicycles are allowed, they must be disassembled and packed or secured in the luggage compartment to prevent them from shifting and potentially damaging other luggage.
There is an €8 surcharge per bicycle.

In these cases, we recommend not buying your ticket in advance, as refunds must be requested beforehand, and for online purchases, cancellations can only be made online before the bus departs. You can purchase your ticket from the driver at the time of departure, once you know for sure whether the bus can transport your bicycles. The driver issues both tickets.»

      Hi Massimiliano,

Thanks a lot for the detailed response. That’s super useful.

We’ll then plan the journey accordingly.

      Best,

      Nicolas

Hi Nico! If you are interested, we found it cheaper, more comfortable and easier to rent a minivan in Valencia airport and go to Teruel, then leave the minivan in a public parking, and return to Valencia after 8 days. Otherwise we have to take a taxi (minivan) from the Valencia airport to the bus station, then take the bus to Teruel and also find a place in Teruel where store the bike boxes for the return.

      Hi Massimiliano,

That’s a really good point. Can you recommend a car rental company and parking in Teruel?

      Cheers,

      Nicolas
