My first DIY StemBag

Tiempo para lanzarse a hacer esas cosas que llevan tiempo dando vueltas en tu cabeza…

Time to jump into those things that have been spinning in your head for a long time…

Inspirado por Adrián Muñoz (@bikepackid), y Neža Peterca (@t.w.w.c), pero sobre todo por la costurera que más ha influido en mi vida: mi madre. De ella heredé hace tiempo esta mítica Singer, que puso la banda sonora a nuestra casa desde que tengo uso de razón.

Inspired by Adrián Muñoz (@bikepackid) and Neža Peterca (@t.w.w.c), but above all, by the seamstress who most influenced my life: my mother. From her I inherited this mythical Singer, that put the soundtrack to our home since I can remember.

Crecí con la idea de que estas máquinas deberían ser una pieza indispensable en un hogar. Cuánto ahorraríamos si así fuera… También por eso he querido usar materiales reciclados que tenía por casa: una vieja esterilla pinchada, unas correas, un cordón y unos velcros.

I grew up with the idea that these machines should be an essential piece in every home. If so, we could save so much money! That’s why I’ve used recycled materials that I had at home: an old punctured mat, some webbing, paracord string and velcro.

Sin ánimo de detallar demasiado, que para eso ya están los estupendos tutoriales de Adrián y Neža, pongo unas pequeñas pinceladas del paso a paso para hacer este primer intento.

Not aiming to detail too much (that’s what the great Adrián and Neža tutorials are for), I just give some insights on the step by step of this first attempt.

Cortar el cuerpo de la bolsa

Cut the body of the bag

Cose la cinta a lo largo del cuerpo, a 2.5cm del borde, y haz costuras cada 2.5-3cm, que se usarán para pasar los velcros y sujetar la bolsa al manillar y potencia.

Sew the webbing at 2.5cm under the top, and make loops of 2.5-3cm. They will be used to attach the bag to the bar and stem.

Cose los dos bordes para formar un cilindro.

Sew the edges to form a cylinder.

Corta la base y cose una cinta, como en el cuerpo. Cósela a la parte inferior del cilindro.

Cut the base and sew the webbing, as you did on the body. Sew it to the bottom of the cylinder.

Forma una pieza similar con la tela interior. Dale la vuelta.

Form a similar piece with the inner fabric. Flip it over.

Encájala dentro de la capa exterior y cóselas las dos juntas.

Fit it inside the outer shell and sew both parts together.

Forma la pieza superior que será en cierre de la bolsa, y cósela al cuerpo de la bolsa.

Form the closing top and sew it to the body.

Pasa el cordón y ponle un cierre de bola

Pass the cord through it and put the cord lock on it

Os animo a aprender a coser, o a seguir practicando. La velocidad y la inmediatez del mundo actual están llevando al olvido a un conocimiento transmitido durante generaciones en prácticamente todos los hogares. Así que… a coser!!

I encourage you to learn to sew, or to keep on practicing. The speed and immediacy of today’s world are leading to the oblivion of knowledge passed down through generations in practically every home. So… Let’s sew!!!

Ahora que he hecho esta primera bolsa, ya estoy deseando hacer otra, para corregir todo lo que he visto y aprendido con esta… por lo que creo que habrá actualizaciones de esta entrada en los próximos días…
